An apparatus and a method for supporting cells with different features in a broadband wireless communication system are provided to support each cells by applying an optimized physical signal structure to communication environment in each cell and transmitting a physical signal configuration information in a form of system common signal structure. When a first part of a super frame is needed to be used, a base station transmits super frame synchronizing signal in a first part of synchronizing area(903). The base station transmits the base station system information in a first part of a broadcast system information domain(905). The base station performs an operation for supporting better communications in a self constructing domain of the first part according to a promised pattern(907). When a second part of a super frame is needed to be used(909), the base station processes a physical signal configuration information of a second part included in the transmitted system information and performs communication(911). |
