PURPOSE: A traction and brake auxiliary device for a railway vehicle is provided to improve traction power with increased frictional coefficient with existing railways in order to reduce towing time and to improve braking power, thereby reducing stop distance and braking time. CONSTITUTION: A traction and brake auxiliary device for a railway vehicle comprises auxiliary bogies(25), auxiliary wheels(21), an auxiliary traction motor, and a position moving device(22). The auxiliary bogies are installed in the lower part of a railway vehicle(1). The railway vehicle comprises main bogies controlled by a vehicle central control device. The auxiliary wheels are arranged in the auxiliary bogies and come in contact with rails of a railway. The auxiliary traction motor rotates the auxiliary wheels in case of pulling the railway vehicle. The position moving device upwardly or downwardly moves the auxiliary bogies. |
