PURPOSE: A lateral electric field type LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to reduce spending on materials by omitting a black matrix from a color substrate. CONSTITUTION: A first substrate(102) includes a plurality of pixel electrodes(170), a center common electrodes(173), a conductive patterns(175). The center common electrodes and the pixel electrodes have a dual layer structure. The conductive pattern includes the same dual layer structure as the center common electrode. A second substrate includes a color filter layer(185). Different colors of color filter patterns(185a-185c) are formed at the boundary of each pixel area.
