APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING SEAMLESS SERVICE BETWEEN A CELLULAR NETWORK AND WIRELESS LOCAL AREA NETWORK FOR A MOBILE USER

PURPOSE: A device for providing a seamless service between a local area network and a cellular network for a mobile user and a method thereof are provided to supply a wireless network service by using a seamless WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network). CONSTITUTION: A cellular communication unit includes a cellular network protocol interface(302), an FRS(Frame Relay Switch), and a cellular modem(303). A WLAN communication unit includes a WLAN modem(304) and an RCA(Radio Control Agent). The RCA provides a communication tunnel between a gateway of a WLAN and the cellular communication unit. The communication tunnel is generated by using a GTP(GPRS(General Packet Radio Service) Tunneling Protocol). The FRS relays a message transmitted from the cellular network protocol interface to the RCA.
