<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxide superconductor capable of commutating a current of an oxide superconductive layer to a base material and reducing the thickness of a stabilization layer formed above the oxide superconductive layer when the oxide superconductive layer is about to change (quench) from the superconducting state to the normal conducting state. <P>SOLUTION: An oxide superconductor 10 of this invention includes: a metal base material 1; an intermediate layer 2 provided on the base material 1 and composed of a single layer or multiple layers; and an oxide superconductive layer 3 provided on the intermediate layer 2.
