<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly return from a self-refresh mode. <P>SOLUTION: For example, a controller 50 alternately and periodically issues a self-refresh command SRE and a self-refresh exit command SRX to a semiconductor device 10. The semiconductor device 10 executes a refresh operation only once in synchronization with the self-refresh command SRE for example, and executes state update of a DLL circuit 200 in response to the self-refresh exit command SRX.
