SECONDARY BATTERY HAVING IMPROVED SAFETY, AND BATTERY PACK USING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A secondary battery is provided to cut a coupling between two electrode assemblies attached to a pouch exterior when the pouch exterior swells up by abnormal behavior of a battery, thereby being capable of fundamentally blocking the current flow from an external terminal into the electrode assemblies. CONSTITUTION: A secondary battery comprises a first electrode assembly(110a), a second electrode assembly(110b), and a connection part electrically connecting the first and second assemblies. In the connection part, a first electrode tab protruded from the first electrode assembly and a second electrode tab protruded from the second electrode assembly are electrically connected to each other. Each of the first electrode tab and second electrode tab comprises a first coupling part(122) and a second coupling part(123) which are respectively attached onto the first side and second side of a pouch exterior(120). One of the first side and second side of the pouch type exterior is the upper side of the pouch type exterior and the other one is the lower side of the pouch type exterior.
