The joint has rivets (6) for connecting two components (2,4) to each other. The rivet has a rivet sleeve (8) and a mandrel (10). The rivet sleeve is formed of a soft, easily deformable plastic material, such that during the setting operation of the rivet only a small setting forces occur, so that delamination of the component (2) is avoided. The rivet sleeve is formed of fiber-reinforced plastic such that the conductive or glass fibers are oriented in the longitudinal direction (14). The interlayer insulating layer (30) is formed and bonded between the components over the entire surface. An independent claim is included for method for forming permanent and reliable joint between fiber-reinforced plastic components.
