摘要 <p>According to the present invention, a plurality of viewpoint images are obtained without degrading polarization performance and an image for use in the display of a 3-dimensional image is generated. An image processing device comprises: a first polarization means comprising a first polarization region and a second polarization region that transmit different polarized lights; a second polarization means comprising a third polarization region that transmits only light transmitted by either one of the first polarization region or the second polarization region, and comprising a total transmission region that transmits the light transmitted by the first polarization region and the second polarization region; an imaging element into which the transmitted light of the second polarization means is input; and an image processing unit that applies signal processing to an output signal from the imaging element. The image processing unit uses a first viewpoint image based on the light transmitted by the total transmission region of the second polarization means and a second viewpoint image based on the light transmitted by the third polarization region of the second polarization means to generate disparity information reflecting the subject distance, and to generate an image for the left eye and an image for the right eye for the display of a 3-dimensional image by subjecting the first viewpoint image to image conversion processing that employs the disparity information.</p>
