<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for cooling a gasification reaction furnace or a gasification device of an IGCC system. <P>SOLUTION: There is disclosed the illustrated gasification reaction furnace including a vessel 120 for defining a reaction chamber which is constituted so as to generate a synthetic gas by receiving carbon-containing fuel and an oxygen-containing gas therein by partial combustion. There are arranged a first cooling device 142 and a second cooling device 152 in order to cool the vessel 120. The first cooling device 142 is attached to a first upper-side region 132 of the vessel 120. The second cooling device 152 is attached to a second intermediate region 134 of the vessel 120.
