<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for reliably and easily removing cut-off slag sticking to a circumferential or side surface of an upper end surface of each horizontally positioned slab which has been subjected to vertical continuous casting and cut-off in a vertical posture, from the horizontally positioned slab. <P>SOLUTION: A method of removing a cut-off slag 7 sticking to a slab C includes: a first step S1 of placing the slab C horizontally which has been subjected to vertical continuous casting and to which a fused cut-off slag 7 is sticked at a part of a circumferential surface cr adjacent to a cut end surface c1 fusion-cut horizontally while being lowered perpendicularly and in an axial direction; a second step S2 of measuring the position of the slab C at two or more positions of the cut end surface c1 and a circumferential surface cr adjacent to the cut end surface c1 in the horizontally positioned slab C using a touch sensor 19; and a fourth step S4 of removing the cut-off slag 7 by moving a claw part 28 relative to the cut-off slag 7 sticking to the slab C along the circumferential surface cr and in the axial direction of the slab C. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
