<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charge transporting organic thin film having excellent charge transporting property, and to provide an organic electroluminescent element including the charge transporting organic thin film. <P>SOLUTION: A charge transporting organic thin film of the present invention is a charge transporting amorphous thin film that is formed on a base and comprises a charge transporting π-conjugated compound including a plurality of π-electron conjugated structural surfaces not parallel with each other. If the π-conjugated compound has electron transporting property then a π-electron conjugated structural surface thereof on which a lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) is mainly distributed, is determined as a first π-electron conjugated structural surface, or if the π-conjugated compound has hole transporting property then a π-electron conjugated structural surface thereof on which a highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) is mainly distributed, is determined as the first π-electron conjugated structural surface.
