PURPOSE: A disc brake equipped with a shim plate is provided to improve the performance of a brake by reducing brake noise, uneven wear of a friction pad, and a judder. CONSTITUTION: A disk brake comprises a caliper body, a piston(6), a friction pad(7), and a shim plate(11). The caliper body is installed to cover the outer surface of a disc which rotates with the wheels of a car. The piston is installed to be protrudable to the axial direction of the disk from the caliper body and is inserted slidably inside of each cylinder of the caliper body. The friction pad is pressed on the disc by each piston during the operation of the brake and provides the braking force for the car in company with the outer friction pad. The shim plate is installed on the backside of the friction pad. The shim plate contacts with a ring-shaped contact unit(6A) of each piston. |
