PURPOSE: A Paenibacillus illinoisensis SK2927 with an activity of decomposing xylan is provided to be used in various industrial fields. CONSTITUTION: Paenibacillus illinoisensis SK2927(KACC91595P) has an activity of decomposing xylan. The strain additionally has an amylase activity. A non-degradable carbon source is decomposed by treating the strain to the non-degradable carbon source substrate. A composition for decomposing the non-degradable carbon source contains the strain. Reducing sugar is prepared by treating the strain to the non-degradable carbon substrate.
