<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the stroke discriminating device of a single cylinder engine that can quickly discriminate a stroke without the need of a cam sensor. <P>SOLUTION: The stroke discriminating device includes: a control means S11 driving a starter motor in reverse rotation prior to driving in normal rotation; and a normal rotation control means S18 making a piston climb over a compression stroke by the normal rotation driving to start an engine. The control means drives the starter motor in reverse rotation by a drive torque set to such a level that the piston can not climb over the compression stroke but can climb over an exhaust stroke. The stroke discriminating device also includes: an exhaust stroke discriminating means (S16) which discriminates that a crankshaft is in the reverse side of a compression stroke (in an exhaust stroke side) when rotation of the crankshaft does not stop even when the crankshaft is rotated by a predetermined rotation angle or more from a reference position by reverse rotation driving; and a compression stroke determining means (S19) which determines that the crankshaft is in a compression stroke side when rotation of the crankshaft is stopped before the crankshaft is rotated by the predetermined rotation angle from the reference position by reverse rotation driving. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
