<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new aromatic compound that is obtained from a naturally occurring substance as a raw material, has excellent ultraviolet absorptivity in a wide wavelength range at an absorption edge in the vicinity of 400 nm and has excellent performance in fluorescence and heat resistance and also exhibits high temporal stability for ultraviolet absorptivity, uses thereof and a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The compound is represented by formula (2) (wherein R<SP POS="POST">4</SP>-R<SP POS="POST">9</SP>are each the same or different and a hydrogen atom, straight-chain or branched alkoxy). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
