<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optic device able to restrict contrast decrease resulting from an ion trapping part. <P>SOLUTION: The electro-optic device comprises: a first substrate 20 and a second substrate 21 disposed opposite each other with an electro-optic material between them; a pixel area 2A having a plurality of pixels; and the ion trapping part 60 having an electrode formed on an area 2B outside the pixel area. A trapping voltage applied to the electrode of the ion trapping part is made different according to a voltage value calculated from a driving voltage applied to the electro-optic material in one or a plurality of pixels serving as reference. When the calculated voltage value belongs to a relatively high voltage area, the trapping voltage is made relatively high.
