PRODUCTION METHOD OF POLYVINYL ALCOHOL-BASED POLYMER PARTICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more largely remove methanol in a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-based polymer particle than a conventional method while suppressing the thermal deterioration of the PVA-based polymer particle.

SOLUTION: This production method of the polyvinyl alcohol-based polymer particle includes: a step of conditioning a particle of a PVA-based polymer by saponifying a monomer containing at least a vinyl ester-based monomer after polymerizing it in a solution containing methanol; and a step of cleaning the particle by using a cleaning liquid with an alcohol whose carbon number is 2 to 3 as a main component.
