An isolation device, primarily for isolating telephone terminal elements and data transmission and/or receiving modules from telephone lines, whilst enabling telephone and/or encoded data signals to be transferred between the elements/modules and the lines, consisting of a high frequency transformer (16) serving as an isolation barrier, and circuitry including an oscillator (18) capable of representing line signals as modulated voltages across the transformer to produce a direct current across the element/module load, and to represent fluctuations in said direct current at said line. The circuitry also enables direct current to be provided at the load to power and element or module. |
