<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the possibility of failure in making a rotation phase difference of a polygon mirror equal to a reference rotation phase difference. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a phase difference detecting section configured such that a rotation phase difference between a rotary polygon mirror selected as a reference from rotary polygon mirrors provided in corresponding image forming units and other rotation polygon mirror is detected by using a BD signal; a correction control section configured such that in a case where a rotation phase difference detected by the phase difference detecting section is not equal to a predetermined reference rotation phase difference, a phase correction process is performed in such a manner that the driving frequency of a driving section that rotates and drives the rotary polygon mirror with the rotation phase difference determined that it is not equal is altered by a predetermined amount of correction, and the driving section is driven for a predetermined number of clocks by a drive clock signal with the altered driving frequency; and a correction amount adjustment section configured such that in a case where the rotation phase difference is not equal to the reference rotation phase difference after the phase correction process, the predetermined amount of correction is decreased by a predetermined specific amount, and the phase correction process is performed again. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
