<p>The device has components for automatically causing a change of course of an airplane at the beginning of hijacking such that the course of the airplane is not manually reversible until the airplane is out of a well-defined danger zone i.e. atomic power plant zone. An autopilot is automatically switched-on when an unintended change of course of the airplane or an unintended change in a prescribed altitude of the airplane is detected. The autopilot is switched-off when the airplane is out of the well-defined danger zone, so that the course of the airplane is reversible by a pilot. An independent claim is also included for a method for preventing hijacking of an airplane.</p>
