Veneer curling prevention method forms cuts in one veneer surface transferred in stretched condition, then bending veneer opposite to cut surface. The veneer tenderizing appts. includes transfer drives adapted to transfer the veneer in the direction perpendicular to the fibre direction of the veneer. Edges (3) oppose to the transfer drive at a suitable distance from the latter and are adapted to form a number of cuts which are spaced in the fibre direction by a suitable pitch. Guides(6) are disposed at the down stream side of the transfer drive as viewed in the direction of flow of the veneer.
