CATALYST CRACK DETECTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crack detector that excludes an AE wave signal generated in other than a catalyst and properly detects a crack on the basis of an AE signal derived from the catalyst.

SOLUTION: The crack detector includes: a main AE signal detection part 10 that comprises a contact member that comes in contact with a catalyst 1 and an AE sensor 12 that detects an AE signal from the catalyst 1 via the contact member; a sub AE signal detection part 20 comprising a contact member that does not come in contact with the catalyst 1 and comes in contact with a peripheral member of the catalyst 1 and an AE sensor 22 that detects an AE signal from the peripheral member via the contact member; and a detection part 30. The detection part 30 compares the main AE signal input from the main AE signal detection part with the sub AE signal input from the sub AE signal detection part to detect an elastic wave in the catalyst 1, and determines that there is a crack in the catalyst 1 when a characteristic value obtained by the comparison exceeds a predetermined reference value.
