<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a short arc type discharge lamp: which is structured to have an arc tube including a luminous section in which a pair of electrodes are disposed to face each other and a sealing section installed consecutively on both ends of the luminous section, and so that a glass retaining cylindrical body is fitted to the base end of an electrode axis and the electrode axis is embedded in the sealing section together with the retaining cylindrical body; and which is capable of preventing bending of the electrode axis resulting from a difference in the thermal expansion amount between the electrode axis and the sealing glass even when a thermal cycle is generated by variations in input power. <P>SOLUTION: A boron nitride layer is interposed between an electrode axis and a retaining cylindrical body. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
