The food-handling kitchen utensil (6) has position determining units such as optical sensors and infrared sensors that are arranged at utensil handle having non-uniform aspect ratio in cross section for partially determining position of utensil on a hob (1). A data processing device (5) is connectd to position determining unit, for processing output sensor signals. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a household electrical appliance; (2) a system for determining position of utensil; and (3) a method for determining position of utensil.
