<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a peptide-containing pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of viral diseases. <P>SOLUTION: A therapeutic composition for the treatment of viral diseases caused by infections with herpes simplex viruses has at least 95% sequence identity to an amino acid sequence NH<SB POS="POST">2</SB>-VCVLAHHFGKEFTPPVQAAYQKWAGVANALAHKYH-COOH, and contains peptides having inhibitory activity to the herpes simplex viruses.
