<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable printing in which image quality is not affected even when a nozzle is clogged. <P>SOLUTION: A printing apparatus includes: a carriage 14 capable of moving in a first direction relative to a medium; a recording head 221 provided to the carriage; color ink nozzle rows (151 to 154) provided to the recording head; a clear ink nozzle row 155; light irradiation parts (160a and 160b) provided to the carriage; and an inspection part inspecting whether ink is appropriately ejected from the respective ink nozzle rows, and performs control based on either a first printing mode or a second printing mode, the first printing mode in which, when the inspection part determines that the ink is appropriately ejected from the clear ink nozzle rows, the time taken until clear ink is ejected and irradiated with the light by the light irradiation part is set as first time, and the second printing mode in which, when the inspection part determines that the ink is not appropriately ejected from the clear ink nozzle rows, the time taken until the clear ink is ejected and irradiated with the light by the light irradiation part is set as second time that is longer than the first time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
