<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing silica by which the silica that is easily recovered by filtration or the like is generated from sodium silicate solid, and to reduce the concentration of boron in the recovered silica. <P>SOLUTION: Sodium silicate solid is reacted with an acidic aqueous solution to elute only sodium oxide in the sodium silicate solid, and silica in the sodium silicate solid is left in the undissolved state without substantial dissolution.
