PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a uniform polarization property in a polarization part.

SOLUTION: A polarization element comprises: a first polarization part including multiple first acicular particles; a second polarization part including multiple second acicular particles; and a bank layer for separating the first polarization part and the second polarization part from each other. The bank layer includes a first conductive part and a second conductive part that are arranged in a manner to hold at least the first polarization part between them in a planar view, and each average alignment direction of the first acicular particles in the planar view intersects with an extension direction of the first conductive part and the extension direction of the second conductive part.
