<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel compound which has strong beta amyloid 40 and beta amyloid 42 production inhibitory activity and is useful as a therapeutic agent and/or a prophylactic agent for psychoneurotic diseases that are caused by beta amyloid and typified by Alzheimer's disease. <P>SOLUTION: This invention relates to a compound represented by formula (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
