PURPOSE:To obtain a rotary press capable of changing printing intervals without replacing a plate cylinder and the like by a method wherein the detector for the feed length of a printed matter, a brake device to make temporary stops by a signal from it and the detector for a plate position are provided. CONSTITUTION:When the feed length of the printed matter 2 delivered from a roll 1 takes an intended length by the detector 6, a clutch brake 8B of a brake roll driving mechanism 8 operates to stop the printed matter 2. After that, when the position of the plate cylinder 10 is detected by the plate cylinder position detector 16 to have arrived at the intended position, the brake roll driving mechanism 8 releases braking operation and the brake roll 7 is driven at a speed faster than a take-up roll 3. On one hand a pressure roll 11 which rotates and stops in synchronization with the brake roll 7 is allowed to fall by a printing drum moving mechanism 17 operated by detecting signals of the plate cylinder position detector 16 and the printed matter 2 is pressed to the side of the plate cylinder 10 and printed. |
