PURPOSE:To stabilize an electrostatic image rapidly by controlling a surface potential in a process of charging. CONSTITUTION:At a position following an entire-surface exposure lamp 12, a probe 13 for measuring the surface potential of a photoreceptor drum 1 is arranged. This probe 13 is coupled with a surface potential measuring instrument 14 and supplied with necessary signals from it. Then, the measuring instrument 14 generate a voltage proportional to the potential measured with the probe 13. The generated voltage is inputted to a digital computer 16 through an A-D converter 15. The computer 16 performs the arithmetic on the basis of information on the input surface potential to supply D-A converters 20 and 21 with signals controlling the output voltages of a primary power source 18 and an AC power source 19. Namely, voltages applied to a primary charger 3 and an AC charger 5 are controlled on the basis of the measured surface potential to obtain a stable electrostatic latent image. |
