<p>Disclosed is a lightweight laminate and a method for making the laminate. Protective and decorative molding and trim strips for automotive vehicles and the like can be made from the laminate which has a body comprising an extruded thermoplastic elastomer material and an extruded outer layer with a tie sheet sandwiched therebetween. The tie sheet is made with sheet lamination technique and is a laminate of a layer compatible with thermoplastic elastomer material and a layer compatible with the outer layer. Optionally, the outer layer can be transparent and a decorative layer of metallized polyester and/or other material can be encapsulated between the outer layer and the tie sheet.</p> |
