PURPOSE: An impedance matching apparatus for improving impedance matching efficiency and an impedance matching method thereof are provided to give an algorithm having an optimal search path, thereby reducing unnecessary calculations. CONSTITUTION: A reflection power measurement unit(200) measures a reflection coefficient about an RF(Radio Frequency) input signal. A matching unit(500) varies a variable element to minimize the reflection coefficient. A control unit(400) measures the variable direction information of the variable element. The control unit measures variable element values according to the measured direction information. The control unit provides the variable element value corresponding to the minimum reflection coefficient among the measured variable element values. The direction information corresponds to the information of a section which becomes smaller than the previously measured reflection coefficient. The control unit successively diversifies the variable element values according to the measured direction information.
