PURPOSE: A battery system for vehicles is provided to effectively control battery output, and to improve cell balancing performance by having a structure and software which can actively change connection between cells for a battery module. CONSTITUTION: A battery system for vehicles comprises a battery module(10) and a controller. The battery module comprises series links(18) which can connect output terminals to be switchable in series; and output links(16) which connect each of the output terminals to outside to be switchable. The controller stores the combinations of series connection between cells, switches the series links by selecting one combination of the series connection, and switches the output links to output the total voltage of the connected cells to outside.
