PURPOSE: A self-localizing RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) reader device and a self-localizing method thereof are provided to minimize estimation errors, prevent RFID tag failures, and reduce power consumption. CONSTITUTION: An RFID reader device(100) includes an antenna unit(110), a reader unit(120), a memory unit(130), a display unit(140), and a positioning unit(150). The antenna unit communicates with RFID tags using multiple power control. The reader unit recognizes RFID tags using received signals from the antenna unit. The positioning unit analyzes the distribution variation of RFID tags recognized by the reader unit, and acquires positioning information including one or more parameters for self-localization from the analyzed distribution variation. The positioning unit estimates the self-position using acquired positioning information.
