<p>Each phase current and phase voltage of alternating current (AC) motor (12) are determined and an inverter output power is judged accordingly. An intermediate circuit current and intermediate circuit voltage are determined. The direct current (DC) power is detected from DC current and intermediate circuit voltage. The judged inverter output power is compared with the detected DC power. An output signal (30) is generated, when judged inverter output power and determined DC power is not within threshold value.
