A kettle lid assembly for insertion into a kettle, and a kettle comprising such an assembly comprises a water charging aperture proximal to the kettle spout that is upwardly open and in fluid communication with a water receiving chamber 200. A water level indication means 219, 220 is orientated substantially horizontally when the kettle is charged from a tap and may be viewed via transparent splash guard 99. A water outlet aperture may coincide with inlet 230 of the siphon water transfer means 240 and flow through the water transfer means may be controlled by siphon gate 280 which may be activated by button 260. Water transfer means may alternatively comprise a valve in fluid communication with the water outlet aperture and water receiving chamber. |
