A vehicle lighting device using a ballast-integrated HID lamp comprises: a lamp housing (1) having an opening; a discharge lamp bulb (2); a reflector (3) that reflects forward light emitted from the discharge lamp bulb (2); an igniter and a ballast (4) that are integrally fixed with the discharge lamp bulb (2); and a cover (5) that seals off the opening of the lamp housing (1); wherein the cover (5) is fitted to the opening of the lamp housing (1), in a state of abutting on a surface of the ballast (4).
