METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING ELECTRODE ROD OF ELECTRIC FURNACE

PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing an electrode bar of an electric furnace for manufacturing polysilicon is provided to improve durability by densely forming the organization of a front end portion because the front end portion of a circular truncated cone shape is formed by a forging process. CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing an electrode bar of an electric furnace for manufacturing polysilicon is as follows. A column-shaped workpiece(10) is pressed in a mold by one of cold forging, warm forging, and hot forging in order to form an initial electrode bar(20) having a front end portion(1a,20a) expanded in the shape of a circular truncated cone. The center part of the initial electrode bar is longitudinally drilled and reamed to form a longitudinal groove(1b), thereby forming an intermediate electrode bar(30). The surface of the intermediate electrode bar is cut and the front end is finished into the shape of the circular truncated cone. A male threaded portion(1d) is formed on part of the center of a body part. The rear end of the body part and the groove is cut to form an electrode bar(1). The electrode bar is ground and plated with silver.
