A portable node apparatus in the form of a self-contained and removable transportable computing device comprising means for establishing a direct plugged connection to a host apparatus, means for displaying the host apparatus as one or more peripheral devices, wherein the node apparatus acts as a master device interacting directly with the one or more peripheral devices and means for executing a first operating system, the host apparatus having associated therewith a second operating system different from the first operating system.
