Method for tagging seismic stations for continuous seismic profiling, in which N stations are distributed over the ground along a principal transmission line 20 for seismic signals SS and an auxiliary transmission line 50 for service signals TEL connecting these stations to a centralised analysis and n-track recording installation. The method consists in: at the instant of the shot, emitting an interrogation signal SI on the auxiliary line; for some favoured stations, detecting this interrogation signal and emitting in response a tagging signal SM sent on the principal line, so that, for the favoured stations belonging to the group of n connected stations, the tagging signal appears on the recording of the corresponding track as a precursor signal of the seismic signal. <IMAGE>
