A communication system (100) that transmits a paging signal from a base station (110) to a mobile terminal (120), via a designated carrier among a plurality of carriers, the communication system (100) comprising: the base station (110) that when the mobile terminal (120) transitions to an idle mode, transmits correspondence information correlating base stations included in a tracking area of the mobile terminal (120) and the designated carrier of each of the base stations; and the mobile terminal (120) that based on the correspondence information transmitted by the base station (110), connects to the designated carrier of the base station (110) to which the mobile terminal (120) is connected, and receives the paging signal transmitted via the designated carrier.
