PURPOSE:An adjustor for drilling muddy water, obtained by blending xanthan gum with a specific carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), capable of enhancing the dispersion stability of inorganic clay, reducing the amount of dehydrated water and increasing the muddy water forming ability and used for petroleum drilling and civil engineering foundation work. CONSTITUTION:An adjustor obtained by blending (A) preferably 20-35wt% xanthan gum, e.g. a water-soluble polysaccharide produced by metabolic action of bacteria of the genus Xanthomonas with (B) preferably 80-65wt% carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) having >=1.5 substitution degree. EFFECT:Capable of improving the thixotropy and efficiently transporting drilled earth and sand.
