The apparatus consists of a housing (1) with a rotor (2) that has a hole (8) which is closed at one end and whose open end can be brought, by rotation of the rotor (2), optionally into a position flush with the incoming carrier pipe (6) or flush with the outgoing carrier pipe (7). In a preferred embodiment, two mutually flush transverse channels (9, 10) are also present, perpendicularly to the abovementioned hole (8) in the rotor (2), which open into the hole (8) and are open at their other end. In one of the two operating positions of the rotor (2), where the hole (8) is flush either with the incoming carrier pipe (6) or with the outgoing carrier pipe (7), one of the transverse channels (9 or 10) is connected to the other carrier pipe. <IMAGE>
