PURPOSE:To prevent the foreign matter of large particles from invading the inside of a cell, and to decrease the generation of a short circuit between electrodes, by making the gap of an injection port part narrower than the gap of the inside of an indicator, at the time of injecting a liquid crystal. CONSTITUTION:By an adherent material 9, the gap of an injection port part 6 is about 2/3 of a gap of the first and the second substrates 3, 4 before injecting a liquid crystal 5. As a result, among foreign matters adhering to a cell in the course of handling and foreign matters mixed into the liquid crystal, that which is larger than the gap of the injection port part 6 whose diameter has narrowed does not invade the inside of the cell. Also, even when a comparatively small foreign matter invaded to the inside of the cell is conductive, since its diameter is pretty smaller than the gap in the cell, opposed electrodes 1 are not short-circuited. Also, even when pressure is applied to the cell from the outside, and the gap becomes small locally, since a gap between the foreign matter and the electrode 1 is enough, it does not occur that the opposed electrodes 1 are easily short-circuited by the foreign matter.
