PURPOSE: A bill sorting selecting method and a device for an automated teller machine is provided to give money according to a selected amount and sort the bill by a user. CONSTITUTION: A bill sorting selecting method comprises the following steps: A bill sort selector(500) in an automated teller machine comprises a sensor(530), an update part(550), a check part(540), a determining part(560), and a calculation part(570). The sensor senses touch based on the moving gestures from the first bill sort to the second bill sort. The update part responds to the senses of the touch based moving gestures, and updates the number of the first bill sort and the second bill sort. The check part responds to the sense of the touch based moving gestures, and checks the residual number of the first bill sort and the second bill sort. The update part updates the number of the first bill sort and the second bill sort based on the results determined in the determining part. The determining part determines whether the residual amount of the first bill sort and the second bill sort are enough to fill the number of the first bill sort and the second bill sort being updated according to the touch based moving gestures. The calculation part responds to the payment receiving of a payment request by a user, and calculates each number of plural bill sorts by referring to a table pre-defining each number of the plural bill sorts comprising the requested money by the user. The table is saved on a database(580).
