摘要 <p>The present invention provides a two-step dust leaching process. The first step includes a first leach followed by solid/liquid separation. The "liquid" phase from the solid/liquid separation has a relatively high concentration of a valuable metal (such as copper) and a relatively low concentration of polonium mostly. The "solid" phase from the solid/liquid separation contains valuable metals (such as copper, gold and silver) and polonium and has a relatively high concentration of polonium compared to the liquid phase. The "solid" phase is transferred to the second step. The second step includes a second leach followed by a solid/liquid separation. The "liquid" phase has a relatively high concentration of polonium and a low concentration of valuable metal (such as copper). The "solid" phase contains valuable metals (such as copper, gold and silver) and polonium and has a relatively low concentration of polonium. The liquid phase from the first step and the solid and liquid phases from the second step can be used beneficially in other processing steps in a refining plant for recovering the valuable metals.</p>
