PURPOSE: A high-strength, high-ductility, and flame-resistance magnesium alloy is provided to improve oxidation-resistance and ignition-resistance, and to restrain the spontaneous ignition of chips which are heaped in machining by forming a dense composite oxide layer acting as a protective film. CONSTITUTION: A high-strength, high-ductility, and flame-resistance magnesium alloy includes: 1.0 to 9.5 wt% of Al; greater than 0 wt% and less than 6.5 wt% of Zn; 0.1 to 1.5 wt% of Ca; 0.1 to 1.5 wt% of one element selected from a group of Sm, Gd, Ce, Dy and Er; remnant Mg and other inevitable impurities. The contents of Al and Ca follow an equation of (Al+Zn/2)xCa=6.5(wt%). The contents of Al and Ca follow an equation of (Al+Zn/2)xCa=5.5(wt%). The magnesium alloy further includes less than 0.5 wt% of Mn. The magnesium alloy includes: 1.0 to 9.5 wt% of Al; greater than 0 wt% and less than 6.5 wt% of Zn; 0.1 to 1.5 wt% of Ca; 0.05 to 1.0 wt% of Y; 0.1 to 1.5 wt% of one element selected from a group of Sm, Gd, Ce, Dy and Er; remnant Mg and other inevitable impurities.
