A method of reducing deleterious effects of turbine flow meter wear and a turbine flow meter assembly constructed in accordance with the teachings of the method. A first step involves positioning a wear sleeve around the turbine flow meter. The wear sleeve has an exterior surface with at least one circumferential seal. A second step involves inserting the turbine flow meter and wear sleeve in a liquid flow conduit in which flow is to be measured, with the at least one circumferential seal preventing liquid from passing between the wear sleeve and the conduit.
